ABOUT US

Player1 Events is responsible for producing, planning, promoting and delivering the Insomnia Gaming Festival as the flagship to a variety of other gaming, technology and esports events. We’re made up of a small but dedicated bunch of people with great enthusiasm; and ambition to grow our business considerably over the coming months and years. ROLE OVERVIEW

  • A key role in the Player1 Events senior team; an expert in event operations and project delivery
  • Accountable for the operational planning and delivery of all events and activation; and as an experienced project manager for advice and coaching of the department delivering a variety of events
  • Oversee the Insomnia Festival operation, assuming the role of senior project manager leading the team
  • Liaise with other event departments, clients and customers to ensure clarity on objectives and budget
  • Responsible for the event operations team championing best practice and the importance of health and safety and financial accuracy at all times
  • Ensure regular reporting, and effective short and long term resource and task allocation across the team
  • Take operational lead, or support roles at events, as allocated amongst the department

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Department Planning & Stakeholder relationships

  • Support and develop the team by ensuring full understanding of expectations UK and internationally
  • Liaising with the Partnerships team, manage department resource and allocate roles and responsibilities
  • Manage the team’s deployment of planning and delivery tools to ensure projects are consistently delivered
  • Manage event operations to achieve defined targets and strategic objectives of the business
  • Provide regular reporting on project status of each event, and find cost effective solutions to problem areas
  • Work with finance to ensure all events are reconciled against forecast
  • Champion best practice and the importance of health and safety and supporting RAMS paperwork
  • Ensure business wide Safeguarding and EDI Policies are followed
  • Own event people planning processes i.e. Volunteers and Contractors
  • Review KPIs to imbed a culture of continuous improvement and performance management
  • Assist and coach team members by acting as support roles on event sites

Project & Resource Management

  • For Insomnia assume the role of senior project manager: lead the project delivery team and be directly involved and hands-on with planning and delivery.
  • For all other events, guide and oversee the team taking project ownership.
  • Project components:
  • Manage logistics & technical schedules, supplier negotiations and budget management, venue service planning, event purchasing, power, network, stage production, staffing and resources schedules across staff, contractors and volunteers
  • Plan all event spaces, venue formatting, capacities and H&S regulations
  • Manage project budgets, costs and closure documents to show true event P&L
  • Chair working group and client meetings to monitor event objectives; and action debriefs and feedback
  • Ensure all project trackers for all events and activations are accurate
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with all venue contacts – ensuring they are kept up to date with requirements and service expectations

People management

  • Conduct regular 121s and provide leadership/coaching as required to build and develop their capability
  • Apply fair and consistent performance management and create a supportive working environment

Skills & Experience Required

  • ‘Hands on’ Project Manager with experience in organising large-scale events against stretching requirements and timeframes
  • Experience of working with venues and good understanding of formatting, design and H&S considerations
  • Previous experience of line managing and leading teams and both internal and external resources
  • Experience of building event and content concepts and an understanding of the relevant costs
  • Experienced communicator, enabling you to engage, educate and influence at all levels
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment to complete deadlines
  • Ability to see short and long term projects through from start to finish managing time and tasks effectively
  • Ability to manage a heavy workload, at times conflicting priorities, and progress tracking a range of tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship management experience
  • Awareness of project planning tools and methodologies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications and Google Suite
  • Desirable: experience with AutoCAD
  • Desirable: IOSH training, or similar H&S qualification
